Training for a better tomorrow

About FLAIM

FLAIM creates immersive mixed-reality (MR) training systems to help first responders, defence teams, and high-risk industry workers prepare more effectively and confidently for real-world emergencies and life-threatening situations.

Our vision is to help people make intelligent, safe, and life-saving decisions through innovative training systems.

Our purpose is to prepare teams to perform at their best during life threatening emergencies, when split-second decisions can lead to life or death outcomes.

We serve those who serve by innovating and customising our training systems to address customers' unique risks.

Our main focus areas include fire and emergency response, defence, resources, energy oil and gas, transportation, and workplace safety.

Our promise to deliver better training for a better tomorrow.

Our story

FLAIM’s story began in 2014 with the mission to revolutionise firefighter training for Navy sailors. Drawing on over a decade of robotics research at Deakin University, we created the world’s first mixed reality multi-sensory firefighter training system.

Following commercialisation in 2019, we expanded into firefighting and first responder domains, helping emergency services and fire safety professionals prepare for emergencies, where split-second decisions can save lives.

By 2024, our capabilities had evolved to meet an even broader challenge. We introduced an immersive Counter Explosive Ordnance and Disposal (EOD) training system, designed to equip defence and humanitarian mine clearance teams with safer, more accessible ways to train for their high-stakes missions.

Our approach has always been guided by principle of delivering realistic feels-real training simulations that build a prepared and resilient workforce.

We combine real-world physical equipment with high-fidelity virtual environments to deliver training that mirrors the hazards, pressures, and complexity of life-or-death situations without the actual risk.

We’re proud to work alongside our clients to build training systems across defence, industry, and emergency sectors. Every simulation we create helps trainees gain not only the skills they need, but the confidence to use them when it matters most.

Guided by our values - partnership, purpose, and progress - we continue to push boundaries, solve the complexities of high-risk training, and make society safer. One training event at a time.
